Description
Peggy Pierce Freeman (1923-2006) was a Pittsburgh pianist, piano accompanist, organist and piano teacher. Freeman talks about performing the Messiah; the Music and Art club, an auxiliary group of the National Negro Opera Company; Mary Carwell Dawson's award winning choir before she started the opera company; Dawson's friendship with Pittsburgh composer Harvey Gaul; the Pittsburgh Piano Teachers Association which Freeman joined in 1963; becoming a chairperson for the regional conference of the National Association of Negro Musicians in 1990; African American heritage.
