  • Smooke discusses his journey from Europe to the United States, including time spent in Budapest. He describes receiving assistance from HIAS, the Jewish Emigration Society, including shelter and activities. He moved to Youngstown, OH, then to Cleveland and eventually to Pittsburgh. He discusses his relatives in the US and Eirope and talks about his involvement with the steel industry and union in Pittsburgh.
