Description
Frances Madole, the winner of Miss Willows 1926, competes in the 1926 staging of the Miss Pittsburgh Beauty Pageant held at the Willows Pool in Oakmont. She hopes to also be crowned Miss Pittsburgh in 1926, but it was not to be. In 1927, Miss Madole was also a runner-up in a competition to find the most beautiful working woman in Pittsburgh. The Willows originally started out as a hopping night club that featured all the big name bands of the day and fine dining. The swimming pool would not open until 1926. Oakmonters enjoyed dining, boating and partying at the Willows despite prohibition of the 1920s.
