  • These four ladies from Braddock competed in the 1927 Miss Pittsburgh Beauty Pageant held at the Willows Pool in Oakmont. From Left to Right: Mabel Spangler, Theresa Krupp, Margaret Hassell, Evelyn Nacey. The Willows originally started out as a hopping night club that featured all the big name bands of the day and fine dining. The swimming pool would not open until 1926. Oakmonters enjoyed dining, boating and partying at the Willows despite prohibition of the 1920s.
