  • Women greatly outnumbered men in the Oakmont High School Class of 1917. This photograph taken on the steps leading to the entrance of the Oakmont High School on Fifth Street and Pennsylvania Avenue right around the time the United States entered World War I. Many of the men would enlist in the army or navy after high school graduation. Originally from the Joseph Grubbs Collection.
