Description
An airplane takes off from Rogers Field. Rogers Field, named after Pittsburgher and first American aviator to fly across the continental United States Calbraith Rogers, was the first real airport in the Pittsburgh area. It took Rogers 84 days to make the flight in 1911. Located in Fox Chapel, the field was used from 1923-1934. Amelia Earhart made a stop at the airfield in the early 1930s.The Fox Chapel Area High School now stands on the airstrip grounds.
