Description
This picture shows the house located at 701 Allegheny Avenue in Oakmont. Dr. Cooper was an amateur photographer as well as a doctor, and many beautiful images survive of his home and family. Dr. William Henry Cooper and his wife, Harriet Lillian Bettes Cooper, lived in four different houses in Oakmont from at least 1897 to Dr. Cooper's death in 1925. They had met when Dr. Cooper was a doctor and professor at the Homeopathic Hospital of Pittsburgh, now Shadyside Hospital. Harriet has been a student nurse there, and was valedictorian of her class. They had four children: Catharine (born 1897), Charles (1899), Franklin (1905), and Caroline (1912).
