Description
Obadiah M. Bossert's hardware store located at Fourth Street and Maryland Ave. Pictured are Obadiah M. Bossert himself (1847-1921) and his daughter, Ella B. Bossert Hepler (1881-1963). The window announces Bossert's is also a branch of the Home Protective Building & Loan Association of Pennsylvania. The store originally began as a tin shop in 1884, in a location further down Fourth Street. In 1885, Bossert's moved to its present location and became a hardware store. This shop was the first place in Oakmont where radios were available for purchase. Originally from the collection of J. Bossert.
