The Gerald J. Voros papers and video tape collection contains two video tapes, a manuscript history of the Ketchum firm with a letter from George Ketchum, and a volume entitled So When They Ask Me, 1893-1920: George Ketchum. The manuscript and volume deal mainly with the history of Ketchum Communications. The two video tapes relate to his involvement in politics. Murphy Wins, November 2, 1993, Election Night Documentation provides footage of the 1993 election night celebration showing Murphy with his supporters as well as a broadcasted telephone call to the Democratic National Committee and a speech given by Murphy about his hopes for the future of Pittsburgh. Interview with G. Voros, Election Night, 5/15/01 is a video recording of a live television broadcast of the 2001 Pittsburgh Mayoral election in which Voros, as senior advisor to Murphy, is interviewed by a reporter., Gerald J. Voros started his career in journalism and public relations, joining Ketchum Communications in Pittsburgh in 1966 after leaving advertising agency N.W. Ayers in Chicago. In 1982 he was promoted from the head of the public relations unit to the president of Ketchum, the first public relations person to do so in company history. In 1983 he co-edited the book What Happens in Public Relations with Paul H. Alvarez, who became the next president of Ketchum when Voros retired in 1992. Involved in city politics as a supporter of the Democratic Party, he was campaign chair for Tom Murphy in 1993 leading to his election as Mayor of the City of Pittsburgh. Voros was active in the community, serving on the National Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America, as former chairman of the World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh (1988-1989), on the Development and Marketing Committee for the Extra Mile Education Foundation, and on the Board of Directors for the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy., Gift of Gerald J.
