The Brashear Company was located at 1854 Perrysville Avenue in Allegheny City (later Pittsburgh's North Side) and were manufacturers of astronomical instruments. Correspondence appears to be primarily written by John A. Brashear, James B. McDowell, and G. W. Klages.
