  • Mary Roberts Rinehart's correspondence sorted alphabetically under the letter "P", including correspondence with Mrs. Willard Crawford Patterson regarding the Atlanta Book Fair, Mrs. Helen Paull regarding her complaints about Rinehart's novel "The Swimming Pool", Olive Pell (Mrs. Herbert Pell) regarding Rinehart's endorsement of Pell's condensed Bible, and with Reginald Pound about Lord Northcliffe. It also includes a letter from the Pennsylvania State Museum after receiving a donation from Rinehart, the People's Foundation regarding Rinehart's position on the Board of Governors, correspondence with the Pittsburgh Sun Telegraph about a biographical article on Rinehart, with Plaza Art Auction Rooms regarding Rinehart's art purchases, a birthday telegram from Governor of Maine Frederick G. Payne, as well as letters from John J. Pershing denying Rinehart's request to serve in the military during World War I, and later inviting her to visit him in London in 1938. Also included is personal correspondence with William Lyon Phelps, Alice E. Pittock, and ZaSu Pitts.
