Description
This dramatic night photo shows the interior of the Panhandle Engine Roundhouse in the Pitcairn Yard. These barn-like stalls, where the Pennsylvania Railroad's mighty "iron horses" were stabled, were built by the federal government when it took over the railroads during World War I.
