Description
Another photograph of the 1936 St. Patrick's Day Flood taken from the railroad tracks, which were high enough to stay above water. The snowy tracks were a popular place for Oakmonters to survey the damage done to their town. This photo focuses on the tracks themselves, and shows a number of people standing on the tracks in scattered groups. The photo also provides a clear shot down the flooded Allegheny River Boulevard, then known as Oakmont Avenue. Over 130 buildings were damaged by the flood in Oakmont alone.
