Ron Wisniski (1957- ) was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and grew up in the town of Curry, Pennsylvania near South Park. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing, English Literature, and Theatre Arts. While a student at Pitt he co-founded South Park Conservatory Theatre and served as its Managing Producer until 1981 when he moved to New York City to pursue his acting career. He became a member of Actors' Equity Association in 1980. In his theatrical career as a character actor he played a wide variety of roles in both plays and musicals. His acting credits include the Broadway national tours of Tintypes, Annie, and Disney's Beauty and the Beast as well as off-Broadway productions of George Abbott's Frankie and A Most Secret War. He has worked most extensively as an actor at dozens of regional theatres across the country. He returned to his hometown many times throughout his career to perform with Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, Pittsburgh Public Theatre, Pittsburgh Playhouse, Three Rivers Shakespeare Festival and Pittsburgh Musical Theatre, where he also directed. Over the course of his career, Wisniski has won and been nominated for several awards. These inlcude receiving the Connecticut Critics Circle Award for Damn Yankees in 1999 and the Pittsburgh Drama League Award in 1979 for his college work.

This collection contains theatre ephemera pertaining to the theatrical career of Ron Wisniski. The bulk of the materials are compiled in scrapbooks. Scrapbooks are arranged chronologically and include programs, press clippings, cards and messages, production photos, backstage photos, reviews, and memorabilia for each production as well as other items as noted in the individual series level scope and contents notes. Posters for various productions, scripts, promptbooks, and A/V materials as well as some correspondence is found in Series II and III. The papers are organized into three series; Scrapbooks, Scripts and Related Materials, Posters and Awards.

This series includes scripts and related materials to various productions and theaters with which Wisniski was involved. Audio Visual materials (Compact discs, VHS cassettes, audiocassette), promptbooks, newspaper columns, press releases, a history essay, and scripts are included. The materials within the promptbooks can include annotated scripts, prop lists, research materials, set design materials, sound and light cues, as well as other documents. Materials in the series are arranged in chronological order.

Originally titled The Jazz Singer, this Al Jolson bio-musical starred Sam Harris and was scheduled for Broadway in 1998 until the lead producer backed out. Along with the capital, the production also lost its title as the producer held the option on it.

The series includes awards given to Wisniski as well as posters for shows with which he was involved. Some of the 18 posters are autographed by the cast of the show. Materials are arranged alphabetically by production title.
