History

John K. Davison established himself in the sand business in 1854 when he was fourteen years old. Davison's business began in Lawrenceville, Pa., where he eventually formed a partnership with his brother, Edward, in 1870.

Scope and Content Notes

Collection includes pages from a ledger book (1881), ledger--1v (1908-1916), journal--3v (1907-1925), invoices (1882-1884), business statements (1908-1916, 1919), production reports (1915-25), statistics on Pittsburgh river commerce (1916-1925), and blueprints of the steamers "E.K. Davison" and "Sprague".
