Miss Dysart held teaching positions in Nebraska and Iowa before she accepted a faculty position at Pennsylvania College for Women in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1926.  Miss Dysart taught courses in ancient and medieval history until her retirement in 1958.  Dysart was appointed college historian and she completed eleven years of research on the history of Chatham University, culminating in the publication of Chatham’s first comprehensive history, Chatham College: The First Ninety Years.  Dysart was an active member of the Presbyterian Church, the American Association of University Women, the American Historical Association, the American Association of University Professors, and the Auxiliary of Warren Barracks of World War 1 Veterans.
