Description
The Carnegie Free Library (now the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh-Allegheny Regional) was named after its benefactor, Andrew Carnegie, who donated over $250,000 for its construction in 1886 and another $150,000 for an expansion in 1915. Architects Smithmeyer and Pelz designed the building, in addition to the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
