Date
May 2, 1910
Identifier

Description
On Monday, May 2, 1910 President William Howard Taft visited his sister-in-law, Mrs. Thomas McKennan Laughlin on Woodland Road and addressed PCW students from the terrace of her home (now Mellon Center on the Chatham University campus). Shown here are students waiting to hear the president speak. As printed in the college magazine, The Sorosis, Taft joked with the students, "You are indebted to me for this opportunity to come out here this morning and get away from your studies. I trust that if I make no other impression upon you, for this reason if for no other, I will win your gratitude."
