Description
The new two-story, 140,000 square foot Gimbel Brothers warehouse between 24th and 25th Streets in the South Side neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The structure was capable of accommodating 80 delivery trucks at one time and also included a Westinghouse precipitron cooling and heating system, together with a minimum number of windows, which reduced levels of dust in the building. The fireproof structure, designed by Pittsburgh architect William York Cocken, cost approximately $1.25 million to build.
