Description
The future site of the Finished Goods Warehouse, adjacent to the H.J. Heinz Company main plant in Pittsburgh’s North Side neighborhood and extending for several city blocks between the Allegheny River and Route 28. Construction on the structure was completed in 1953. The building, designed by the architectural firm of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, was built by the George A. Fuller Company. In the left background is Saint Nicholas Church, the First Croatian Church in America. The church was dedicated on September 8, 1901, and was subsequently declared a historic landmark by the City of Pittsburgh on October 29, 1976.
