Description
Caption on the back of the photograph reads, “The Wm. Larimer Jones, one of the most recent additions to the fleet of towboats operated by the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation is equipped with a water tube boiler of rated 700 H.P. capacity served by a locomotive type stoker.” The towboat was built in 1930 at the Howard Yard in Jeffersonville, Indiana, for the Vesta Coal Company, a subsidiary of the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation. It was dismantled and sold for scrap in the summer of 1953.
