Description of the photograph reads, “Some of the original buildings erected by George Westinghouse in 1894 (lower photo) were razed to make room for the new generator frame fabrication aisle at the East Pittsburgh divisions of Westinghouse Electric Corporation. These views, taken from the same spot alongside Turtle Creek, illustrate how the plant is being modernized in a ‘checkerboard’ fashion under a long-term plan.”
