Description
Description of the photograph reads, “This $7,000,000 blast furnace at Crucible Steel Company of America’s Midland, Pa., Works was put into operation in December, 1952. Rising to a height of an 18-story office building, the furnace will produce 1,300 tons of molten iron a day. The massive ironmaker is completely automatic and electronically controlled with the exception of one operation, that of tapping the flow of the molten metal.”
