Description
McKnight Road, a major artery from North Hills to downtown Pittsburgh, was a Depression Era, limited access highway project of the Public Works Administration. McKnight Road was said to be named after the McKnight family, who were early settlers in the area. The area was rural until after World War II when developers began laying out plans for housing to accommodate the post war population growth.
