  • New sidewalks are built as part of Operation Better Block’s urban renewal project. Operation Better Block, Inc. was created in 1970 as a subsidiary of the Better Block Development Corporation. The organization is headquartered in the Homewood section of Pittsburgh and its primary focus includes promoting and revitalizing the Homewood-Brushton community, developing programs that build and provide housing for lower income families, and educating the youth of the neighborhood.
