Description
This uniquely shaped building was built as Two Oliver Plaza and is now known as the PNC Bank Building. Oliver Plaza covers the area between Wood Street, Liberty Avenue, and Fifth Avenue. This building was designed by architects Skidmore, Owings, and Merrill. The building has as two interlocking octagons of mirror glass to accommodate a cramped space between two earlier structures. A city block of buildings (mostly small businesses) including the Grogan Building, were razed in the late 1960s and early 1970s to make way for what became Oliver Plaza.
