Description
The Mesta Machine Company produced various types of engines for its customers, including gas power, steam power, una-flow or direct-flow, reversing, and Corliss engines. These engines were produced for use in rolling mills, air and gas compressors, and vacuum pumps. The Mesta Gas Blowing Engine normally operated at a rate of 60 revolutions per minute and was known for its competence, especially under high temperatures. The engine is noted for having a thermal efficiency of about 29 percent and a mechanical efficiency of 85.5 percent. Two of these types of engines supplied the blast for a furnace, lowering the initial operations cost.
