  • The Mesta Machine Company supplied machinery to iron, steel, and power plants nationally and internationally. In addition to its customers in the United States, Mesta also built products for companies in Japan, France, Italy, Canada, Australia, India, and England. Mesta manufactured all of its machinery from raw materials to the finished product in its West Homestead, Pennsylvania, facility. The Mesta Station (center) was located on the Monongahela side of the Pennsylvania Railroad. The large metal bridge in the center of the photograph lead from the street to the General Office Building. There were numerous trains that passed through the station every day, and it generally took about twenty minutes to travel the six miles from Pittsburgh to the Mesta Station by train.
