Description
Mesta Machine Company Corliss Engines were built primarily as rolling mill engines, power engines, blowing engines, air and gas compressors, pumping engines, and vacuum pumps. These engines were designed for steam pressures between eighty and one hundred and eighty pounds and for superheat up to seventy-five degrees Fahrenheit. The Corliss Engine employed direct, geared, belted, or rope drives, and was favored by heavy industry throughout the world due to its reliability, simplicity, and low operating cost. The Mesta Machine Company was one of the leading manufacturers of machine tool and steel mill equipment in the world during the first half of the twentieth century. Some of their other products included, forging presses, shears, cut and machine-molded gears, and various types of rolls used in rolling mills.
