Description
Chartiers Elementary School was named for the locality in which it was located. The locality was named for Peter Chartier, an Indian trader, who had his headquarters and trading post at the mouth of the creek on the Ohio River, which later took his name. The two-story brick school, which contained four rooms, was erected in 1906. Chartiers Elementary School closed on September 1, 1939, and the property was sold in 1946 for $6,000 to a private investor.
