Description
Spring Garden Elementary School, located at 1501 Spring Garden Avenue, was designed by architect M.M. Steen in 1939. The original school building, known as Seventh Ward School No. 1, was constructed in 1879 at 1132 Spring Garden Avenue; the name was changed to Spring Garden in 1913. The school was rebuilt twice, first in 1905, and finally in 1939. The school serves the Pittsburgh communities of Spring Garden and Troy Hill.
