Description
Belmar School, located at 7109 Hermitage Street, received its name from the section of the City of Pittsburgh where it is located. Construction on the school began in 1900 and was completed in 1903. The original school included tile halls, big stairways, and stained-glass windows at the top of stairs leading to the second floor. In 2003 the average class size was 26 and the total enrollment was 409. The school offered special programs such as the Male Mentoring Program, the D.A.R.E. Program, the SECTEM Program (energy conservation), and Life Skills Support classroom.
