Description
Connelley Technical Institute and Adult Education Center, formally known as Connelley Vocational High School, was named in honor of former Pittsburgh Public School Board member Clifford B. Connelley. The school, designed by architect Edward B. Lee, opened in 1930 on Bedford Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Hill District neighborhood. The school replaced the Ralston Industrial School, a trade school for boys, which was built in 1860 at Penn Avenue and 15th Street in the Strip District neighborhood of Pittsburgh. Connelley Technical Institute and Adult Education Center offers GED testing, Vocational Technical and Computer Career Training, Adult Basic Education Programs, the Associated Master Plumbers of Allegheny County Program, English as a Second Language, and the High School Diploma for Adults Program.
