Carrick High School first opened for students in 1925. A little over a year later the Borough of Carrick, named for a city in Ireland, was annexed to the City of Pittsburgh and Carrick High School became a part of the Pittsburgh public school system. A new addition was completed in 1966 and provided new facilities for occupational, vocational, and technical training. It now serves students from the Allentown, Arlington, Beltzhoover, Bon Air, Carrick, Knoxville, Mount Oliver, Mount Washington, Overbrook, and Saint Clair Village communities of Pittsburgh.
