Description
Prospect Elementary and Junior High School located at Prospect and Cowan Streets in Pittsburgh’s Mount Washington neighborhood got its because its location affords extensive views of the City of Pittsburgh. The original school building was constructed in 1871 and was destroyed by a fire in 1914. The building pictured was built in 1938 and designed by the James T. Steen & Sons architectural firm. The school serves the Allentown, Beltzhoover, Hill District, Mount Washington, and South Side communities of Pittsburgh.
