Description
Built in 1842 the court house was destroyed by fire on May 7th, 1882. Immediately after the fire the county commissioners purchased the Western University (now University of Pittsburgh) buildings located at the corner of Ross and Diamond Streets. The University held its sessions in the Presbyterian & United Presbyterian Seminaries in Allegheny City until their buildings were completed on Observatory Hall
