Augustus Keppel, 1st Viscount Keppel (1725–1786). British admiral who held sea commands during the Seven Years' War and the War of American Independence. From an original picture by Sir Joshua Reynolds, in the collection of His Roy Highness the Prince Regent. Drawn by J. Jackson, Engraved by E. Scriven. Published March, 1814 London. Keppel was a British admiral who held sea commands during the Seven Years' War and the War of American Independence. During the final years of the latter conflict he served as First Lord of the Admiralty.
