  • Belle Barsky Rubenstein (1904-2001). Trained as a pianist at the Pittsburgh Musical Institute, taught piano privately at the Irene Kaufmann Settlement Music School. Chairman of the YM-WHA Musical Society (Y Music Society). Rubenstein talks about the inner workings and politics of Y Music Society committees; Herman Passamaneck, the executive director of the Y music Society and the controversy over his withdrawal of an invitation to Pete Seeger; becoming the chairman of subscriptions for the Y Music Society in 1949; prominent performers and performances in Pittsburgh including Isaac Stern.
