Description
Dr. Rufus Henry Fitzgerald and John G. Bowman. Bowman, Chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh from 1921 through 1945, rebuilt and reformed the university during his tenure. He was the driving force behind projects such as the Cathedral of Learning, the Stephen Foster Memorial, and the Nationality Classrooms. Fitzgerald, chancellor from 1945 through 1955, established a code of tenure, increased the university's endowment, and handled the challenges of post-war expansion.
