Description
View of worker at the Carrie Furnaces tending to molten iron in the process of casting. The Carrie blast furnaces were responsible for smelting basic iron from iron ore and other raw materials. This iron was then transported across the Monongahela river to the open-hearth furnaces of Homestead where it was made into steel.
