Description
A view of an onlooker watching as a massive 110 ton ingot is hoisted from a car-bottom reheating furnace in preparation for forging. The term ingot refers to the initial unfinished mass of steel that has been solidified in a mold from the molten metal originally produced in the open-hearth furnaces. The unfinished steel would be worked by different processes at other facilities at the works to fit a desired function.
