Description
The Bloomfield Bridge, designed by the City of Pittsburgh's Bureau of Bridges, was erected in 1914 at a cost of approximately $450,000. The bridge was the longest, the tallest, and the most expensive structure erected by the City of Pittsburgh during this period. The Bloomfield Bridge pictured in the photograph closed in May 1978, and was demolished in 1980. A new replacement bridge opened on the site on November 3, 1986.
