Description
View of the Panhandle Bridge built by the Pennsylvania Railroad's "Panhandle" Division in 1903 cross the Monongahela River near East Carson Street between South First Street and South Second Street. This bridge replaced a similar bridge built in 1863 in roughly the same location. The Port Authority of Pittsburgh began using this bridge in 1985 for the "T" Light Rail System which carries passengers to downtown Pittsburgh from the South Hills.
