Description
Car 1678 was the very last car to operate over route 21 Fineview and is shown here at the last run made in the history of the line. By the next morning at 10:00 AM, all catenary leading to line had been cut down at Perrysville Avenue. This route existed from 1951 to 1966. It was discontinued due to Port Authority modernization. Route 21 Fineview began its steep climb up Henderson Street with one of the steepest grades in the system at nearly 15%. It entered Downtown through the 9th Street Bridge. The route then left Downtown on the 7th Street Bridge, using Ohio Street to regain its traditional route up Federal Street, it then attacked the 15% grade of Henderson Street and wound through Fineview over a dozen streets to reach the end of the line at Charles and Perrysville. It then made a return trip via Perrysville Avenue, Federal Street, and the 9th Street
