  • 53rd Mayor of Pittsburgh Joseph M. Barr presenting certificates and shaking hands with high school students in the Pittsburgh City-County Building. According to the April 15, 1965 edition of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the mayor and representatives of the Commission on Human Relations and of the Pittsburgh Board of Public Education gathered to present awards to 40 high school students. The students, from different schools within the Pittsburgh Public School District, received the certificates for their participation in human relation committees in their schools to work "to achieve greater understanding between students of various backgrounds and will arrange exchange visits with other schools."
