Description
Contains a detailed review of the history, age, and ownership of 719 Brighton Road, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The building is a three story stone and brick Renaissance Revival style house occupying a 50' wide by 198' deep lot located in the Allegheny West section of Pittsburgh. Letitia Holmes, a wealthy widow, had it built between late 1868 and 1871. After Holmes death in 1862 the house was sold to a not-for-profit corporation that turned it into Holme Hall for Boys between 1923 and 1954. Between 1955 and 1979 the home was used as a funeral home run by Philip and Martha Bianco. The building is located on the same block as John Irwin's Rope Walk, which operated until 1858.
