Description
Construction progress on Three Rivers Stadium. Three Rivers Stadium opened July 16, 1970 after multiple construction delays. It was home to the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pittsburgh (Pitt) Panthers and the Pittsburgh Maulers also briefly played at the stadium. Three Rivers Stadium hosted the first World Series night game in 1971. It played host to concert performances of the Grateful Dead, The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, among others. The stadium was demolished February 11, 2001.
