  • The photo shows the view looking north from the top of the slag dump, called “Brown’s Dump,” off Browns Hill Road before construction on the Summerset at Frick Park residential development began in 2001. The slag was dumped from the 1920s to the 1970s, and the site sat abandoned after dumping stopped. The horizontal row of houses above the slag dump are on Beechwood Boulevard, with Guy and Kemper Streets below Beechwood and Landview Road at the top of the hill.
