Description
Tile mural representation of the City of Pittsburgh, highlighting water pumping stations, treatment facilities, and reservoirs operated by the Pittsburgh Water Department. Today it is operated by the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA). According to the PWSA website, the municipal authority was created in 1984 to oversee renovation of the city's water system. In 1994 the Pittsburgh Water Department was absorbed into the PWSA and in 1999 the PWSA took responsibility for Pittsburgh's sewer system as well.
