Description
View of the Ammon Community Recreation Center's pool. Built in 1940, the site was originally occupied by Ammon Field baseball park. Ammon Field was the home of some of the great Negro League teams from Pittsburgh. Today, there is a state-sponsored plaque that recognizes the historical significance of the ballpark site. Looking north at the intersection of Bedford Avenue and Kirkpatrick Street (the section in view is now part of Memory lane).
